Lunch with Shamu

Cal State Fullerton was able to be a part of SeaWorld San Diego's Shamu's Worlds of Discovery Tour, as the animal ambassador team started its tour.
The purpose of the March 27 visit was to promote the theme park's new Sesame Street attractions. The team will be traveling to family oriented locations in California, Utah, Arizona and Nevada.
This show also gives the chance for SeaWorld's animal experts to educate the community.
This is SeaWorld's fourth visit to CSUF. Krista Luther, the marketing director, coordinated with Pamela Skawin, the Titan Student Union's Information and Services manager, the appropriate date and place to have this exhibit.
"The TSU is part of SeaWorld's market since we sell their tickets, so CSUF was selected [for the exhibit]," Skawin said.
Children from the Children's Center accompanied their parents to the tour at the TSU courtyard, joining CSUF students and faculty.
The SeaWorld educators started the exhibit by having one of the children from the Children's Center dress up as a penguin. As the child put on each part of the penguin costume, Susan Cox, one of the SeaWorld educators, explained the purpose of each body part of the penguin.
The children, students and faculty were educated and entertained at the same time. Afterward, a live penguin was brought out to meet the public, along with a variety of other animals.
Gary Faucher, the animal presenter, educated the public about all the animals while smoothly incorporating the importance of conservation.
"It takes a lot of patience [to work with animals] and you really need to be able to adjust to the animals and learn their limitations and their strengths," Faucher said.
